Derek Hein
USBC Certified Coach
Hi! My name is Derek. I am a lifelong bowler, starting when I was 2 years old. My parents were my inspiration, and why I started to bowl. At first, it was a bit of a struggle – my first games were all zeroes. Then I got a 1, then a 2, and it took off from there. I bowled junior league from ages 5 to 18, finishing with an average of 192 as a senior, but topped out at 196.97 as a sophmore. After moving to Iowa City for college, I bowled very little competitively, but continued to practice a couple of times per week. I finally joined a league in 1999, and have bowled leagues since. I have been a consistent 200+ average bowler since 2005, and have been 220 or so for the last 6 or 7 years. I consider myself a student of the game, always learning, as well as coaching. I’ve enjoyed coaching, either individually or small groups, new to bowling or experienced high average bowlers.
Anthony Tometz
USBC Silver Certified Coach
My name is Anthony Tometz, I am 23 years old. I grew up in the Chicagoland area but now reside in Iowa City. I went to college at Clarke University in Dubuque, IA and graduated with a BA in Elementary Education and am a middle school math teacher in West Branch, IA. I have been bowling since my freshman year of high school, bowled on a college team, and currently bowl in a league at Colonial Lanes. I have a Mom, Dad, twin brother, and I live with my girlfriend and puppy. I look forward to working with you to help you be the best bowler you can be!
